My hours, however, are weird, and by that, I mean, they're not set. As in, I don't come in every Friday or anything like that. It's a Rota system which set up my hours three weeks in advance and I'm told them accordingly. So I could be working for six hours one day, four hours the next and so on. It's not every day I work which I'm thankful for. I mean, have you stood up for several hours while carrying heavy things and packing their shopping? That shit hurts after a few hours, mostly in the legs and back (you wuss).
It has come into conflict with things I do outside of work, particularly the upcoming MCM Expo. Yeah, I'm attending it again, even though I've yet to purchase my early entry ticket. I usually like to attend this on Saturday, but I'm working that day so I'll be going on Friday instead. I'm also working the day before up until 11pm so I can't go and stay at my sister's place. It kind of sucks but I've set it up so that I'll get up early that day and get an early train into London. Yeah, I realise that's kind of stupid considering the lack of sleeping I'll be getting, but I'll have to endure. It's best to get in there as early as you can because, even with an early access ticket, you still have to wait quite a while to actually get in. Not to mention there's only one cash-point in the entire building and as you can imagine, a line starts forming quickly as the day goes on. I know it sounds a little pathetic but I really do like attending plus I want to meet
EDIT: Okay, as it turns out, all the early entry tickets for Friday have sold out. It looks like I might not go after all. I'll see if I could get my manager to switch my shift on Saturday with someone else, but that isn't a guarantee. I could get an early entry on Friday if I bought a weekend ticket but, well, that would be pointless and a waste of money. Shame, because I was really looking forward to it.
There's also something else that's been a major pain as of late. A water pipe in my street has burst (something about it being made of galvanised steel) meaning that there's low water-pressure. At first, I think, "no big, it's happened before, they'll fix it as the day goes on, right?"
How wrong I was. Worth mentioning that I live in a semi-detached house. For those who don't know, semi-detached housing is several houses in one block, in my case, five of them including ours. However, Anglian Water doesn't see this is an urgent matter, even though it clearly is. Under that circumstance, they're not going to fix it until May 29th... that's nearly two weeks away. They could fix it right now if we paid them about £1000. They're words, not mine. I'm pretty sure I don't need to tell you this but that is blackmail. Even worse that they also have get permission from everybody in the block but one of our neighbors is on holiday meaning there's nothing we can do. Granted, I can still have a wash but not a shower or bath or anything. Well, I can still take a shower but not only is the pressure very low, the water itself is ice-cold. Cleanliness for work or pneumonia? You decide.
Anyway, sorry to vent out like that. Just needed to get it off my chest. I'm going to bed. Toodles!
